Families

A living multi-generational community
Our parish is a diverse, multi-generational community, with our worshippers ranging from 0 to 101 years of age. We have two active youth clubs plus groups for babies and children on Sundays. We also run a series of social events designed to appeal to all ages.
Youth group
We have an incredible group of young people from 8 – 18 years of age and we would love to meet more! We run trips, residentials and regular activities. Monthly programme:
Friday Youth Group Younger Group (8 – 11 years old) every Friday 6.30 to 8.15pm in the Parish Hall
Older Youth Group (12 – 18 years old) every Friday 7.30 to 9.15pm in the Parish Hall

Sunday Club and St Cross Tots
Children’s groups are run during the 9.30 Eucharist, except on the 2nd Sunday when we have our All Age Service.
We explore the bible in a fun and creative way each week using the children’s bible, prayers, craft and songs. We have been known to bake and plant seeds! Snacks for the children, coffee for the parents!

All age services
On the second Sunday of each month at 9.30am we have an All Age Parish Eucharist. This is a 45 minute service where children and adults worship together. The children stay in the service and are invited to come and sit on the carpet for an informal talk which takes the place of the sermon.

Confirmation classes
Confirmation classes for both young people and adults are held regularly. For more details speak to one of the clergy or contact us here
Special occasions
The children enjoy taking part in events such as the Palm Sunday procession and the major church festivals of Christmas and Easter. The Christmas crib service, to which they are invited to come dressed as angels, shepherds and kings, is one of our most popular services of the year. Earlier in December we have the annual Christingle service. There is a special children’s service on Good Friday to act out the story, and an all age service on Remembrance Sunday.
The pictures and craft which the children produce are often displayed in church, and the children also help to create the Easter garden and other seasonal displays.
